Riverbend Hot Springs

Riverbend Hot Springs se encuentra en el número 100 de Austin Street, a orillas del río Grande, en Truth or Consequences, Nuevo México. La propiedad comenzó como una tienda de cebo junto al río antes de que Lee y Sylvia Foerstner la compraran en 1988 y abrieran en 1990 un albergue juvenil con baños termales junto al río; cuando su hijo vació accidentalmente los tanques de carnada, Lee perforó un pozo para reponer el agua y encontró agua mineral natural a 109°F (43°C) procedente del acuífero bajo la ciudad, dando origen a lo que se convertiría en Riverbend Hot Springs. Hoy el resort posee derechos de agua comerciales sobre ese mismo acuífero termal natural —la misma fuente que dio identidad a Truth or Consequences, originalmente llamada Hot Springs— y ofrece una combinación de bañeras privadas junto al río y piscinas comunitarias alimentadas por el agua de origen a 109°F.

Riverbend Hot Springs sits at 100 Austin Street on the banks of the Rio Grande in Truth or Consequences, New Mexico. The property began as a riverside bait shop before Lee and Sylvia Foerstner bought it in 1988 and opened a youth hostel with riverside hot baths in 1990; when their son accidentally drained the minnow tanks, Lee drilled a well to replace the water and struck 109°F (43°C) natural mineral water from the aquifer beneath the town, launching what became Riverbend Hot Springs. Today the resort holds commercial water rights to that same natural hot springs aquifer — the same source that gave Truth or Consequences (originally named Hot Springs) its identity — and offers a mix of private riverside tubs and communal pools fed by the 109°F source water.

リバーベンド・ホット・スプリングスは、ニューメキシコ州トゥルース・オア・コンシークエンシズのオースティン・ストリート100番地、リオ・グランデ川のほとりに位置する。この施設はもともと川沿いの餌屋であったが、1988年にリー&シルビア・フォースナー夫妻が買い取り、1990年に川沿いの温泉浴場を備えたユースホステルを開業した。息子が誤ってミノー(餌用小魚)の水槽の水を抜いてしまった際、リーが補充のために井戸を掘ったところ、町の地下の帯水層から109°F(43℃)の天然ミネラル水が湧き出た。これがリバーベンド・ホット・スプリングスの始まりとなった。現在、リゾートはこの同じ天然温泉帯水層——かつて「ホット・スプリングス」と呼ばれていたトゥルース・オア・コンシークエンシズという町名の由来となった源泉——に対する商業用水利権を保有し、川沿いのプライベート浴槽と109°Fの源泉水を利用した共同プールを提供している。
