The Lost Spring

The Lost Spring, en Whitianga, en la península de Coromandel, es un spa geotermal ajardinado construido alrededor de un auténtico manantial mineral. Su fundador, Alan Hopping, pasó años persiguiendo leyendas locales sobre un manantial curativo perdido, hasta que las perforaciones finalmente dieron con agua caliente a unos 625-667 metros de profundidad en 1989. El sitio describe el agua como de unos 16.000 años de antigüedad y rica en minerales. Hoy las piscinas incluyen la Amethyst Cave Pool, a unos 32°C, y la Crater Lake Hot Pool, a 39-40°C, además de un day spa y restaurante junto a las piscinas.

The Lost Spring in Whitianga, on the Coromandel Peninsula, is a landscaped geothermal spa built around a genuine mineral hot spring. Its founder, Alan Hopping, spent years pursuing local legends of a lost healing spring before drilling operations finally struck hot water at around 625-667 metres below the surface in 1989. The site describes the water as roughly 16,000 years old and rich in minerals. Today the pools include the Amethyst Cave Pool at about 32°C and the Crater Lake Hot Pool at 39-40°C, alongside a day spa and poolside dining.
