Quilpie, a small opal-mining town in south-west Queensland's Channel Country, sits over the Great Artesian Basin like much of inland Queensland, and the Channel Country Tourist Park & Spas has built its accommodation offering directly around that resource. Three artesian spa baths, fitted with jets and blowers, draw naturally heated bore water ranging from 30°C to 41°C — warm enough for genuine therapeutic soaking after a day exploring the surrounding opal fields or the nearby Channel Country river systems. Unlike the free public bore baths found in many Queensland outback towns, these spas are reserved for guests staying at the park, whether in powered sites, tent sites, or ensuite cabins, giving visitors a private, quieter way to experience the region's artesian water.
