Hrunalaug Hot Spring

Hrunalaug se encuentra en terreno agrícola privado cerca del pueblo de Flúðir, en el sur de Islandia, cerca del Círculo Dorado. Según el operador, la más antigua de sus piscinas fue construida hacia 1890 por el granjero Stefán Jónsson, de la granja Ás, para lavar y bañarse en familia; una segunda piscina se añadió en 1935 para lavar ovejas, y una tercera piscina construida en 2017 para visitantes fue renovada con piedra basáltica en 2023. Hrunalaug sits on private farmland near the village of Flúðir in South Iceland, close to the Golden Circle. According to the operator, the oldest of its pools was built around 1890 by farmer Stefán Jónsson of Ás farm for washing and family bathing; a second pool was added in 1935 for sheep-washing, and a third pool built in 2017 for visitors was renovated with basalt stone in 2023. The pools run at roughly 32–40°C across the site and hold about 15 bathers at once. It remains family-owned and now charges an entrance fee.
