Kanuti River Hot Springs emerges from the earth within the Kanuti National Wildlife Refuge, a vast subarctic wilderness north of Fairbanks in the Brooks Range foothills. The spring produces water at around 55°C that creates a warm oasis in the boreal forest and tundra. The refuge encompasses critical habitat for caribou, wolves, grizzly bears, and nesting migratory birds. Access is by floatplane from Bettles or extended overland travel, making this one of Alaska's most inaccessible thermal springs.
