Mungindi Hot Pool

Mungindi se extiende a ambos lados del río Barwon, en la frontera entre Nueva Gales del Sur y Queensland, y su complejo de piscinas en Bucknell Street se centra en una compacta piscina termal artesiana de apenas 5,8 por 3 metros, junto a una piscina fría de 33 metros y una zona de chapoteo infantil. Mungindi straddles the Barwon River on the New South Wales-Queensland border, and its swimming complex on Bucknell Street centres on a compact artesian hot pool, just 5.8 by 3 metres, alongside a 33-metre cold pool and a children's wading area. The hot pool is fed by a bore drilled in 1996 to a depth of 1,037 metres into the Great Artesian Basin, delivering constantly flowing, naturally filtered mineral water at around 38°C — warm rather than scalding, making it comfortable for extended soaking rather than the brief-dip intensity of some of the region's hotter bore baths. Shaded picnic grounds surround the complex, which serves both the local community and travellers on the Carnarvon Highway route between the Darling Downs and northern New South Wales.
