La ciudad belga de Spa ha dado nombre a un concepto global: el manantial mineral como lugar de salud y placer social. Sus aguas ferruginosas y carbogaseosas, conocidas como 'pouhons', brotan a temperatura ambiente y fueron frecuentadas por el rey Carlos II de España, el zar Pedro el Grande y el poeta inglés Lord Byron. La ciudad conserva su elegante infraestructura balnearia del siglo XVIII y el casino más antiguo del mundo, abierto en 1762. Sus manantiales principales —el Pouhon Pierre-le-Grand y el Pouhon Prince de Condé— siguen activos.
The word 'spa' originated here. Spa's pouhons (springs) are cold, naturally carbonated, and rich in iron bicarbonate. Visited by Peter the Great of Russia, King Charles II of England, and Victor Hugo, the springs reached peak fame in the 17th–18th centuries. Today the Grand Pouhon Pierre-le-Grand remains the principal spring, drunk on-site for its diuretic and iron-fortifying properties. Part of the Great Spas of Europe UNESCO World Heritage inscription of 2021.
Spa — Les Pouhonsはベルギー・Liège Province, Ardennesに位置する含鉄泉・炭酸泉。源泉温度は11℃の豊かな温泉水が湧き出る。泉水は酸性（pH約5.8）の泉質、二酸化炭素・炭酸水素塩泉を豊富に含む、総溶解固形物1200 mg/Lが特徴だ。数世紀にわたる歴史を持つ。貧血・腎臓・消化器療法など多様な温浴療法が行われる。施設では飲泉療法・入浴・水治療法などが体験できる。
