Thermes de Spa

Thermes de Spa es una instalación balnearia moderna construida específicamente para este fin, inaugurada en 2004 y diseñada por el arquitecto Claude Strebelle, situada en lo alto de la Colline d'Annette et Lubin, unos 80 metros sobre el centro de Spa, con un funicular construido especialmente para conectar ambos puntos. Se nutre de la misma agua mineral natural que abastece a los famosos manantiales históricos Pouhon de la ciudad (incluida la casa de aguas Pouhon Pierre-le-Grand), que es naturalmente fría, carbogaseosa y rica en hierro; se calienta para las 800 m² de piscinas termales interiores y exteriores, jacuzzis y baños de turba tradicionales del complejo. Se trata de una experiencia genuinamente distinta a las históricas casas de aguas Pouhon del centro —un edificio balneario contemporáneo construido a tal efecto, en lugar de una fuente de agua patrimonial— aunque ambos se nutren de la misma agua de manantial reconocida por la UNESCO que dio al mundo la palabra 'spa'.

Thermes de Spa is a purpose-built modern bathing facility that opened in 2004, designed by architect Claude Strebelle, sitting atop the Colline d'Annette et Lubin roughly 80 meters above downtown Spa, with a funicular built specifically to connect the two. It draws on the same natural mineral water that supplies the town's famous historic Pouhon springs (including the Pouhon Pierre-le-Grand pump room), which is naturally cold, carbonated and iron-rich; it is heated for the facility's 800 m² of indoor and outdoor thermal pools, jacuzzis and traditional peat baths. This is a genuinely distinct visitor experience from the historic Pouhon pump rooms in town — a purpose-built contemporary spa building rather than a heritage drinking fountain — though both draw on the same UNESCO-recognized spring water that gave the word 'spa' to the world.
