Termas de Monfortinho se encuentra cerca del río Erges, en la frontera con España, en el municipio de Idanha-a-Nova, al borde de la sierra de Penha Garcia. Su agua, procedente del manantial Fonte Santa, es hipomineralizada, bicarbonatada, sódico-cálcico-magnésica, y destaca por tener uno de los contenidos de sílice más altos entre las aguas termales portuguesas; brota a unos 30,5°C con un pH de 5,5. Una empresa con 32 socios formalizó la explotación moderna del balneario en 1907; el edificio principal del balneario y el Hotel da Fonte Santa se construyeron en 1940, seguidos del Hotel Astória en 1948, y las propiedades terapéuticas fueron reconocidas oficialmente en 1989.

Termas de Monfortinho sits near the Rio Erges on the Spanish border in Idanha-a-Nova municipality, at the edge of the Penha Garcia mountain range. Its water, from the Fonte Santa spring, is hypomineralized, bicarbonated, sodium-calcium-magnesium water noted for having one of the highest silica contents among Portuguese thermal waters, emerging at about 30.5°C with a pH of 5.5. A company with 32 partners formalized the modern bathhouse operation in 1907; the main bathhouse and Hotel da Fonte Santa were built in 1940, followed by the Hotel Astória in 1948, and the therapeutic properties were officially recognized in 1989.
