Sanya Nantian Hot Springs sits on China's tropical island of Hainan, at the same latitude as Hawaii, offering a unique combination of equatorial beach destination and geothermal thermal resort. The springs, flowing from granitic bedrock at 92°C, are one of China's highest-quality natural spring sources by mineral purity, prized in Traditional Chinese Medicine texts since the Tang Dynasty for their ability to 'harmonise qi and clear heat.' The resort complex includes more than 60 open-air thermal pools landscaped within tropical gardens of palms, hibiscus, and frangipani, fed by the naturally soft, silica-rich water. Located just 15 km from Sanya's Phoenix Island cruise port, Nantian is the most directly accessible of China's major thermal resorts from the sea.

El gobierno provincial de Hainan designó el área de captación del manantial como reserva geológica protegida en 2010. El complejo opera bajo un sistema de gestión hídrica de circuito cerrado, en el que el agua termal enfriada se devuelve a las aguas subterráneas mediante pozos de inyección en lugar de verterse al mar. La calefacción solar térmica complementaria calienta las piscinas ambiente durante los meses más fríos, reduciendo la extracción directa del manantial hipertermal de origen.

Hainan provincial government designated the spring catchment area as a protected geological reserve in 2010. The resort operates under a closed-loop water management system where cooled spring water is returned to the groundwater via injection wells rather than discharged to the sea. Solar thermal supplementation heats ambient pools during cooler months, reducing direct draw from the hyperthermal source spring.
