Thermalbad Brigerbad draws on natural springs delivering lithium-containing sodium-calcium-sulphate water at temperatures ranging from 21 to 50°C, with around 50 liters flowing from the source every second. The waters were rediscovered in 1471 by Anton Walker and reached their first peak of popularity in the 16th century under the physician Peter Owlig, before falling into decline from the 17th century onward. The site was revived in 1934-1935 and expanded substantially between 1956 and 1960 into the open-air complex that exists today, with pools ranging from 24 to 42°C, a thermal grotto, and one of Europe's longer water slides. The water is used therapeutically for rheumatic and arthritic complaints.
