Tokaanu Thermal Pools

Tokaanu Thermal Pools se encuentra cerca del extremo sur del lago Taupō, junto a Tūrangi, en una zona termal natural conocida durante mucho tiempo por los māorí por sus humeantes piscinas minerales calientes y pozas de barro. Tokaanu Thermal Pools sits near the southern end of Lake Taupō by Tūrangi, in a natural thermal area long known to Māori for its steaming hot mineral pools and mud pots. A short walking track through the reserve passes the natural features, while the developed pool complex offers a public pool and children's pool maintained at 36–37°C, set in sinter basins. In the 19th century the thermal area was a major stopover on the 'Grand Tour' stagecoach route, with travellers arriving by coach and departing by steam launch across the lake.

トカアヌ・サーマル・プールズはトゥランギ近郊、タウポ湖南端付近にあり、マオリが古くから湯気の立つ温かい鉱泉プールや泥火山で知られてきた天然の地熱地帯にある。保護区内の短い散策路がこれらの自然の特徴を通り、開発されたプール施設ではシリカ・シンター盆地内に36〜37°Cに保たれた公共プールと子供用プールが提供されている。19世紀には、この地熱地帯は「グランドツアー」駅馬車ルートの主要な中継地であり、旅行者は馬車で到着し、湖を蒸気船で渡って出発した。
