Börde Therme is a natural brine (Sole) bath in Bad Sassendorf, a North Rhine-Westphalian spa town officially recognized as a 'Moor- und Sole-Heilbad' since 1975. Local salt springs were used for healing purposes as early as 1817, with wooden bathing tubs installed on the saline grounds by 1852. Today the facility offers saltwater pools, a sea-salt grotto, a floating salt pool (Sole-Schwebebecken), and a renovated spa park with a Gradierwerk (salt graduation tower) rebuilt in 2019.
Salt springs at Bad Sassendorf were documented as early as the 10th century. Written requests from around 1817 record use of the local brine for bathing and healing, and by 1852 wooden bathtubs were installed on the saline grounds, laying the foundation for the spa industry. The town received official spa ('Bad') status on May 10, 1906, and was recognized as a peat-and-salt healing spa (Moor- und Sole-Heilbad) in 1975.
