Chief Shakes Hot Springs

Chief Shakes Hot Springs is reached by a 25-kilometre boat journey up the Stikine River from the town of Wrangell on Southeast Alaska's panhandle. The springs produce water at around 46°C and feed both an indoor bathhouse cabin and outdoor pools surrounded by Sitka spruce, western red cedar, and devil's club — the lush rainforest vegetation of Southeast Alaska. The Stikine River delta, a critical staging area for millions of migratory shorebirds in spring, adds extraordinary wildlife watching to the hot spring experience.
