Fuente de los Baños is a natural mineral spring in Montanejos, in the Alto Mijares comarca of Castellón province. The spring discharges roughly 6,000 litres of water per minute at a constant 25°C throughout the year, carving through an impressive limestone gorge nearly 15 metres high before joining the Mijares River. Its temperate, unchanging waters made it a health-tourism destination in the 18th and 19th centuries, valued for cardiovascular, liver, hypertension and rheumatoid conditions. Today the site is protected as a local ethnological space of interest, with natural pools, picnic areas and walking paths, and it also plays an ecological role in replenishing the Mijares River downstream of upstream dam diversions.
Health tourists were drawn to Montanejos for these waters in the 18th and 19th centuries, and the site retains protected status as a local ethnological space of interest.
