Ol Jogi Wildlife Conservancy covers approximately 58,000 acres of the Laikipia Plateau in central Kenya — one of the most biodiverse private conservation areas in East Africa, home to endangered black rhino, Grevy's zebra, African wild dog, and a wealth of bird species. The conservancy's private camp integrates wildlife experience with Maasai cultural wellness practices, including traditional steam and heat treatments that form part of the nomadic healing traditions of the Laikipia Maasai. The Maasai tradition of steam bathing using aromatic savanna plants and heated stones represents an African parallel to sweat lodge traditions found across the world.

Patrimonio

Heritage

The Maasai of the Laikipia Plateau have maintained a relationship with the land and its plants for centuries, using steam and heat treatments as part of a traditional medical system that draws on the remarkable pharmacopoeia of the East African savanna. Ol Jogi has worked with Maasai communities to support and preserve this knowledge.

Cultura

Culture

Experiencing traditional Maasai wellness practices within a functioning wildlife conservancy — hearing lions at night, seeing rhinos at dawn, and engaging with centuries-old healing traditions — represents a depth of Africa that goes beyond conventional safari tourism.
