Whitecap Alpine Sauna operates in the mountain environment of British Columbia's Sea-to-Sky Corridor — the dramatic coastal mountain zone between Vancouver and Whistler whose peaks, glaciers, and old-growth forests form one of the most spectacular landscapes in North America. The Sea-to-Sky Corridor is the traditional territory of the Squamish (Skwxwú7mesh) Nation, who maintained their own sweat lodge traditions in this mountain landscape for thousands of years before European contact. The alpine forest of the Coast Mountains has provided cedar, the primary sauna timber, to both Indigenous and settler communities.
