Aguas Termales de Chignahuapan

Chignahuapan -- nombre náhuatl que significa aproximadamente 'lugar de nueve aguas' -- se encuentra en una cuenca volcánica rica en minerales al norte de Puebla, donde varios manantiales termales naturales brotan a lo largo del municipio. El más conocido nace en el barrio de Tenextla a una temperatura inicial de unos 51°C en el manantial, que se enfría hasta un rango de baño de entre 25 y 38°C al llegar a las piscinas del balneario. Reconocidas desde hace mucho tiempo por sus propiedades terapéuticas, las aguas alimentan hoy un balneario modesto con piscinas termales, vestidores y hospedaje sencillo -- un contrapunto más tranquilo a los atractivos más conocidos de este Pueblo Mágico, como los talleres de esferas navideñas y la estatua flotante del Cristo de la Paz en la laguna cercana.

Chignahuapan -- a Nahuatl name meaning roughly 'place of nine waters' -- sits in a mineral-rich volcanic basin in northern Puebla, where several natural hot springs rise across the municipality. The best known emerges in the Tenextla district at an initial temperature of around 51°C at the source, cooling to a bathing range of roughly 25-38°C by the time it reaches the resort's pools. Long recognized locally for their therapeutic properties, the springs today feed a modest balneario with thermal pools, changing rooms and simple lodging -- a quieter counterpart to the town's better-known Pueblo Mágico attractions of Christmas-ornament (esferas) workshops and the floating Cristo de la Paz statue on the nearby lagoon.
