Hin Dad Hot Spring lies about 130 km north of Kanchanaburi town on Highway 323, in Thong Pha Phum District near the Myanmar border. Its calcium-carbonate water is naturally odourless (unlike the sulphurous springs common elsewhere in Thailand) and feeds three concrete pools ranging from roughly 40°C to 55°C, plus a dedicated pool for visitors with disabilities. The spring, previously called Kui Mang Spring, was discovered in 1943 by Japanese soldiers overseeing construction of the Thailand-Burma "Death Railway" during the Second World War, and remains a low-key, locally run bathing spot open daily.
