Kawhia Hot Springs (Te Puia)

Kawhia Hot Springs, también conocidas como Te Puia Hot Springs, son manantiales geotermales naturales que brotan a través de arena negra en Ocean Beach, a poca distancia a pie sobre dunas desde un aparcamiento en Te Puia Road, unos 4 km al oeste del pueblo de Kawhia, en la costa de Waikato. El agua emerge a unos 45°C y solo es accesible durante aproximadamente dos horas antes y después de la marea baja, cuando los visitantes cavan sus propias pozas en la arena donde el agua se mezcla con el frío mar de Tasmania. Ofrece una alternativa más salvaje y remota a la más conocida Hot Water Beach, en Coromandel, sin instalaciones formales y con entrada gratuita.

Kawhia Hot Springs, also known as Te Puia Hot Springs, are natural geothermal springs that bubble up through black sand on Ocean Beach, a short walk over dunes from a parking area on Te Puia Road, about 4 km west of Kawhia village on the Waikato coast. The water emerges at around 45°C and is accessible only within about two hours either side of low tide, when visitors dig their own pools in the sand where it mixes with the cold Tasman Sea. It offers a wilder, more remote alternative to the better-known Hot Water Beach in the Coromandel, with no formal facilities and free entry.

カウヒア・ホット・スプリングス(テ・プイア・ホット・スプリングスとも呼ばれる)は、ワイカト海岸、カウヒア村から西へ約4kmの、テ・プイア・ロード沿いの駐車場から砂丘を越えて少し歩いた先にあるオーシャン・ビーチの黒砂の中から湧き出す天然地熱温泉である。湧出温度は約45℃で、干潮の前後約2時間しかアクセスできず、その間に訪問者は砂浜に自分で穴を掘り、冷たいタスマン海の水と混ざり合う温泉プールを作る。コロマンデル半島のより有名なホット・ウォーター・ビーチに比べ、より野性的で人里離れた選択肢であり、正式な設備はなく入場は無料。
