Terme di Chianciano, in the Valdichiana Senese area of Tuscany, draws on four differently classified springs: Acqua Santa (used for morning treatment, curative for digestion), Acqua Sillene (38.5°C, high in free carbon dioxide, used for vascular and rheumatic treatment), Acqua Fucoli (a cold 16.5°C bicarbonate-sulphate-calcium water taken for intestinal regulation), and Acqua Santissima (used for inhalation therapy). A 1171 donation deed is the first clear medieval mention of individual springs here, referencing 'Acqua Santa and Sellena.' In 1986, a statue of the winged Etruscan goddess Thesan was discovered nearby in the Fucoli woods, believed to have adorned an Etruscan temple near the ancient spring. The first pavilion for dispensing Acqua Santa was built in 1674.

Patrimonio
Heritage
Chianciano's curative waters were known to the Etruscans and Romans. A donation deed from 1171 is the earliest clear medieval reference to the individual springs. The 1986 discovery of a statue of the Etruscan goddess Thesan in the Fucoli woods points to an Etruscan temple once standing near the ancient spring, and some accounts trace the name 'Sillene' to an Etruscan temple dedicated to Sethlas, god of volcanoes.
Cultura
Culture
Filmmaker Federico Fellini and playwright Luigi Pirandello were known to walk in the spa town's park and alleys, part of a longer literary and cultural association between Chianciano Terme and 20th-century Italian arts figures.
