Terme Sveti Martin se remonta a 1911, cuando unos perforadores que buscaban petróleo en la aldea de Vučkovec encontraron en su lugar agua mineral, en el condado más septentrional de Croacia, Međimurje, cerca de las fronteras con Hungría y Eslovenia. El hallazgo permaneció en gran medida sin desarrollar hasta 1936, cuando se construyó la primera piscina de baño en el manantial de Vučkovec, sentando las bases de lo que hoy es un gran complejo termal y de bienestar. El agua aflora a unos 38°C y, tras más de un siglo de uso, ha consolidado el turismo de salud y bienestar de la región: el municipio ganó el premio EDEN (European Destinations of Excellence) en 2007, en gran parte gracias a la reputación del complejo termal.

Terme Sveti Martin traces back to 1911, when drillers searching for oil in the hamlet of Vučkovec struck mineral water instead, in Croatia's northernmost county of Međimurje near the Hungarian and Slovenian borders. The find went largely undeveloped until 1936, when the first bathing pool was built at the Vučkovec spring, laying the foundation for what is today a large wellness and thermal resort. The water surfaces at around 38°C and, over more than a century of use, has anchored the region's health and wellness tourism — the municipality won the EDEN (European Destinations of Excellence) award in 2007, largely on the strength of the thermal resort's reputation.
