Tsuboyu (Yunomine Onsen)

Tsuboyu es un diminuto baño revestido de piedra en Yunomine Onsen, una aldea termal situada en la ruta de peregrinación Nakahechi del Kumano Kodo, en Tanabe, prefectura de Wakayama. Se cree que Yunomine Onsen fue descubierto hace unos 1.800 años, lo que lo convierte en uno de los onsen más antiguos de Japón, y durante más de 1.000 años los peregrinos se han bañado aquí en rituales de purificación antes de venerar en el santuario Kumano Hongu Taisha. Tsuboyu, que solo admite a una o dos personas a la vez durante un máximo de 30 minutos, está inscrito como parte del sitio de Patrimonio Mundial de la UNESCO 'Sitios sagrados y rutas de peregrinación de la cordillera de Kii', lo que lo convierte en el único baño termal del mundo donde se puede bañar dentro de un sitio declarado Patrimonio Mundial. El agua de la fuente, que alcanza unos 90°C, contiene azufre, sodio y bicarbonato, además de potasio, calcio, hierro, cloro y sulfato. Una fuente pública cercana, Yuzutsu, se utiliza para hervir onsen tamago (huevos cocidos en agua termal).

Tsuboyu is a tiny, stone-lined bathhouse in Yunomine Onsen, a hot spring hamlet along the Kumano Kodo Nakahechi pilgrimage trail in Tanabe, Wakayama Prefecture. Yunomine Onsen is thought to have been discovered around 1,800 years ago, making it one of Japan's oldest hot springs, and for over 1,000 years pilgrims have bathed here in ritual purification before worshipping at Kumano Hongu Taisha. Tsuboyu itself, fitting only one or two bathers at a time for up to 30 minutes, is registered as part of the 'Sacred Sites and Pilgrimage Routes in the Kii Mountain Range' UNESCO World Heritage listing, making it the only hot spring bath in the world where visitors can actually bathe within a UNESCO World Heritage property. The source water, which reaches about 90°C, contains sulfur, sodium, and hydrogen carbonate along with potassium, calcium, iron, chlorine, and sulfate. A separate public spring nearby, Yuzutsu, is used to boil onsen tamago (hot spring eggs).

つぼ湯は、和歌山県田辺市、熊野古道中辺路沿いの温泉集落・湯の峰温泉にある小さな石造りの湯である。湯の峰温泉は約1,800年前に発見されたとされ、日本最古級の温泉の一つとされる。1,000年以上にわたり、熊野本宮大社への参拝前に巡礼者たちがこの湯で禊（みそぎ）を行ってきた。つぼ湯自体は一度に1～2人しか入れず、入浴時間は最大30分に制限されているが、「紀伊山地の霊場と参詣道」としてユネスコ世界遺産に登録されており、実際に入浴できる温泉としては世界で唯一の世界遺産構成資産である。源泉温度は約90℃で、硫黄・ナトリウム・炭酸水素塩に加え、カリウム、カルシウム、鉄、塩素、硫酸塩を含む。近くにある共同源泉「湯筒」は温泉卵を茹でるのに使われている。
