Aguacaliente Wildlife Sanctuary protects a significant stretch of tropical forest in the Toledo District of southern Belize, home to natural warm springs at around 35°C. The sanctuary was established to protect one of Belize's most biodiverse areas — jaguars, tapirs, scarlet macaws, and dozens of snake species inhabit the forest. The warm springs provide an additional attraction within an ecotourism visit to the sanctuary. The Toledo District borders Guatemala and lies within the broader Maya Biosphere Reserve ecosystem.
