Dakota Hot Springs is located near Poncha Springs, a small junction town at the crossroads of major mountain passes in central Colorado. The spring produces clear, mildly mineralized water at around 40°C in the foothills of the Sawatch Range. The area around Poncha Springs is known geothermally — nearby Salida and the hot springs of the Upper Arkansas River valley form one of Colorado's richest geothermal corridors. The spring offers a quieter alternative to the commercial facilities nearby.
