Hidden Valley Springs is a private nature resort spanning about 110 acres of protected rainforest in Calauan, Laguna, less than two hours from Metro Manila. Its natural hot and cold spring pools, including a distinctive naturally carbonated "Soda Pool" fed by CO2 dissolved from the area's volcanic geology, draw on groundwater linked to Mount Makiling and Mount Banahaw. The resort has operated since 1918, when the land was acquired by Eufrocino Roxas, and is perhaps best known for hosting director Francis Ford Coppola during the filming of Apocalypse Now in the late 1970s. Today it offers cash-only day tours with lunch, six main spring pools, a natural waterfall, and rustic overnight bungalows.
