Maquinit Hot Spring

Maquinit Hot Spring is one of only a handful of saltwater hot springs known worldwide, located at Sitio Maquinit on the southeastern coast of Busuanga Island, about a 20-30 minute tricycle ride from Coron town. Geothermal heat, believed to originate from volcanic activity beneath the island near Mount Tapyas, warms groundwater that mixes with seawater before surfacing through exposed limestone at around 38-41°C and a reported discharge rate of roughly 5,115 liters per minute. Three man-made pools set among mangroves (with a separate area for children) let visitors soak in the mineral- and salt-rich water, which is name-derived from the Filipino word "mainit" (hot). It is promoted locally as the only known saltwater hot spring in the Philippines.
