Holidaypark Kováčová sits in the small village of Kováčová, a few kilometers from Zvolen in central Slovakia, and taps a geothermal borehole whose water is classified as thermal, hypotonic, mineral, sulfate-bicarbonate, calcium-magnesium, emerging at roughly 48.5°C. The bathing facility first opened in 1969 as a seasonal outdoor pool complex and was substantially rebuilt in 2013 into a year-round aquapark with indoor and outdoor basins, water slides, and wellness facilities. The mineral water is used therapeutically for musculoskeletal, nervous-system, and digestive conditions, a use dating back to the site's original spa-bath purpose.
The original spa-bath at Kováčová opened to the public in 1969, drawing on the same geothermal aquifer that supplies the region's better-known Sliač spa nearby. The 2013 reconstruction converted the seasonal outdoor baths into a year-round aquapark while retaining the borehole-fed thermal water as its core attraction.
