Madison Blue Spring State Park protects a first-magnitude spring in Madison County, Florida, where Floridan Aquifer water at 22°C wells up through an extensive underwater cave system creating an intensely blue-tinted spring pool. The cave system extends for miles underwater and is one of the major sites for cave diving in Florida. Snorkeling in the spring pool reveals the cave entrance and an abundance of freshwater fish. The spring flows into the Withlacoochee River (North), and the surrounding park provides picnicking and river access.
