Nukabira Onsen is a small hot spring village at the base of a ski area on the southwestern shore of Lake Nukabira in Kamishihoro town, Hokkaido, that has drawn visitors since the Taisho era (1912-1926). The village sits within Daisetsuzan National Park and is surrounded by forests of Japanese white birch. Its source water is a sodium chloride-bicarbonate spring measured at 59.0°C with a pH of 7.1. Nearby, the Taushubetsu River Bridge, a former railway bridge nicknamed the 'ghost bridge,' emerges from the lake in winter and submerges again as water levels rise in warmer months.
