Secret Lagoon

La Laguna Secreta (Gamla Laugin) se construyó originalmente en Hverahólmi en 1891 y albergó las primeras clases organizadas de natación de Islandia entre 1909 y 1947, antes de caer en desuso. La restauración comenzó en 2005 y las instalaciones modernas reabrieron el 7 de junio de 2014. La laguna se alimenta de manantiales termales naturales, incluyendo Vaðmálahver y Básahver, además del pequeño géiser activo Litli Geysir, que hace erupción cada pocos minutos cerca de allí. The Secret Lagoon (Gamla Laugin) was originally built at Hverahólmi in 1891 and hosted Iceland's first organized swimming lessons from 1909 to 1947 before falling into disuse. Restoration began in 2005 and the modern facility reopened on June 7, 2014. The lagoon is fed by natural hot springs including Vaðmálahver and Básahver, plus the small active geyser Litli Geysir, which erupts every few minutes nearby. The water, described as warm and rich in sulfur, holds steady at 38-40°C year-round and is fully replaced roughly every 24 hours through continuous natural flow.
