Sheldon Chalet is one of the most remote luxury accommodations on Earth — a five-suite chalet perched on a nunatak (rocky outcrop surrounded by glaciers) in the Don Sheldon Amphitheater, a spectacular cirque of peaks and glaciers at the base of Denali, North America's highest mountain. Access is exclusively by small ski-plane, weather permitting. The property was built by the family of legendary Alaskan bush pilot Don Sheldon, who used the site as a refuge during his decades of flying in the Alaska Range. Among the chalet's facilities is a wood-fired outdoor sauna and hot tub, allowing guests to experience deep heat bathing at altitude while surrounded by the Ruth Glacier, 5,000-metre peaks, and one of the greatest wilderness landscapes on the planet.

Don Sheldon (1921–1975) was one of Alaska's most celebrated bush pilots, whose intimate knowledge of the Alaska Range made him instrumental in early mountaineering expeditions on Denali. Sheldon Chalet representa una forma de lujo salvaje específicamente alaskeña: la convicción de que acceder a los entornos naturales más extremos y hermosos merece un esfuerzo y un gasto considerables, y que la mejor manera de experimentar la naturaleza salvaje es enfrentarse plenamente a sus condiciones en lugar de aislarse de ellas. La sauna al aire libre en un circo glaciar es esta filosofía hecha realidad física.

Sheldon Chalet represents a specifically Alaskan form of wilderness luxury — the conviction that access to the most extreme and beautiful natural environments is worth significant effort and expense, and that the best way to experience the wilderness is at full engagement with its conditions rather than insulated from them. The outdoor sauna in a glacial cirque is this philosophy made physical.

Sostenibilidad
Todos los suministros, incluidos la leña y los alimentos, se transportan por avión bush. El chalet genera su propia electricidad mediante energía solar y eólica, con un generador diésel de respaldo. Su ubicación en el nunatak se encuentra completamente por encima del ecosistema glaciar, lo que minimiza la huella ecológica. El número de visitantes está estrictamente limitado por la reducida cantidad de suites disponibles.
Sustainability
All supplies, including firewood and food, are flown in by bush plane. The chalet generates its own power via solar and wind, with diesel backup. The nunatak location is entirely above the glacial ecosystem, minimising ecological footprint. Visitor numbers are strictly limited by the small number of suites.
