Termas de Monfortinho sits near the Rio Erges on the Spanish border in Idanha-a-Nova municipality, at the edge of the Penha Garcia mountain range. Its water, from the Fonte Santa spring, is hypomineralized, bicarbonated, sodium-calcium-magnesium water noted for having one of the highest silica contents among Portuguese thermal waters, emerging at about 30.5°C with a pH of 5.5.
