The first bathing structure was built by the municipality in 1558, and the springs were documented in 16th-century treatises. King Carlo Emanuele III visited in 1755, and King Vittorio Emanuele II laid the foundation stone for the Hotel Royal in 1857, cementing the site's status as a favored royal retreat of the House of Savoy.
