Vodný park Bešeňová se encuentra en la cuenca de Liptov, a unos 12 km de Ružomberok, junto a los Bešeňovské travertíny, un monumento natural protegido de travertino formado por aguas ricas en minerales que depositaron carbonato de calcio durante milenios, un indicio de la geología bajo el pueblo. El primer pozo geotérmico del parque se perforó en 1987, alcanzando 1.987 metros y encontrando agua a 60,5°C; las piscinas públicas del complejo abrieron en 1993, y actualmente tres pozos alimentan el complejo con agua que contiene cantidades importantes de calcio (275–633 mg/l) y magnesio (76–154 mg/l), además de sodio, potasio, litio, estroncio, sulfatos, bicarbonatos, fluoruros y cloruros. El agua rica en hierro tiene un característico tono rojizo-marrón y se utiliza para terapias musculoesqueléticas, respiratorias y urológicas en las aproximadamente nueve piscinas termales del complejo, repartidas en un terreno de 6 hectáreas.

Vodný park Bešeňová sits in the Liptov basin about 12km from Ružomberok, next to the Bešeňovské travertíny — a protected natural travertine monument formed by mineral-rich waters depositing calcium carbonate over millennia, a hint at the geology beneath the village. The park's first geothermal borehole was drilled in 1987, reaching 1,987 meters and striking water at 60.5°C; the resort's public pools opened in 1993, and three boreholes now feed the complex with water carrying substantial calcium (275–633 mg/l) and magnesium (76–154 mg/l), plus sodium, potassium, lithium, strontium, sulfates, bicarbonates, fluorides and chlorides. The iron-rich water has a distinctive reddish-brown tint and is used for musculoskeletal, respiratory and urological therapy across the resort's roughly nine thermal pools, spread over a 6-hectare site.
