Terme Merano

Terme Merano obtiene su agua termal del Monte San Vigilio, cerca de Lana, a unos 8 km de Merano, donde el agua de lluvia que se filtra a través de la roca granítica se enriquece con radón, flúor y metales raros; se recoge en un túnel de 1.200 metros y se canaliza hasta el balneario. El uso medicinal del agua fue aprobado oficialmente por el Ministerio de Sanidad italiano en junio de 1966. La tradición termal de Merano es aún más antigua: el histórico Kurhaus abrió en 1874, mientras que el edificio actual, diseñado por el arquitecto surtirolés Matteo Thun, se inauguró en 2005. El agua se utiliza en tratamientos de inhalación y baño para enfermedades respiratorias crónicas, afecciones reumáticas y rinitis alérgica bajo supervisión médica.

Terme Merano draws its thermal water from Monte San Vigilio near Lana, about 8 km from Merano, where rainwater filtering through granite rock is enriched with radon, fluorine, and rare metals; it is collected in a 1,200-metre tunnel and piped to the spa. The water's medicinal use was formally approved by Italy's Ministry of Health in June 1966. Merano's spa tradition is older still — the historic Kurhaus opened in 1874 — while the current facility, designed by South Tyrolean architect Matteo Thun, opened in 2005. The water is used in inhalation and bathing therapies for chronic respiratory disease, rheumatic conditions, and allergic rhinitis under medical supervision.
