AquaPark Cozia sits within the Complexul Balnear Cozia at Călimănești-Căciulata, a spa town at the foot of the Cozia mountains on the Olt river whose mineral springs — sulphurous, chlorinated-sodium, bicarbonated, calcic, magnesian and iodurated, some also carbonated — were famous enough in the 19th century that Dr. Carol Davila had bottled water from 'izvorul nr. 1' at Căciulata shipped to Paris for Napoleon III, and Austro-Hungarian Emperor Franz Joseph also took treatment there. Inaugurated in 2015 as a modern addition to this historic balneo resort — Romania's largest, with around a dozen active mineral springs, four hotels and two treatment bases — the park's 13 pools and 9 slides draw on the resort's thermal water rather than being a stand-alone chlorinated facility.

Patrimonio
Heritage
Călimănești-Căciulata's mineral springs have a documented 19th-century reputation: physician Carol Davila recommended water from 'izvorul nr. 1' at Căciulata to France's Napoleon III, who suffered from liver disease, and the water was bottled and shipped to Paris; Austro-Hungarian Emperor Franz Joseph also received treatment with these waters. The resort is classified as a balneoclimatic station of national interest and is described as Romania's largest and most complete spa destination.
