Băile Boghiș

Băile Boghiș is a modest balneo resort in Boghiș commune, about 40 km from Zalău, where boreholes drilled to roughly 400 meters tap thermal mineral water — bicarbonated, sodic and iodurated, with sulphurous and chloride content — emerging at around 42°C. The water's therapeutic value for chronic degenerative and inflammatory rheumatism has been formally recognized by Romania's Ministry of Public Health. The resort has weathered financial difficulties in recent years (including a recorded bankruptcy filing in 2022) but continues to reopen for seasonal operation, with its outdoor pools running at roughly 29-34°C.
