Caldea opened in 1994 in Escaldes-Engordany, Andorra, in a striking 18-floor, 80-meter glass tower — the tallest building in the country — covering some 6,000 m² and ranking among Europe's largest spa complexes. Its indoor and outdoor thermal pools, jacuzzis and saunas are fed by the Roc del Metge spring, the same sulfur- and sodium-rich natural hot spring that has defined Escaldes-Engordany's identity for centuries, emerging from the ground at around 70°C before being tempered for bathing. The complex includes a premium adults-only wing, Inuu, within the same building.

Escaldes-Engordany takes its name from its thermal springs (escaldar = 'to scald' in Catalan), and Caldea's Roc del Metge source has shaped the town's identity for centuries, once powering local textile manufacturing before becoming the centerpiece of Andorra's tourism industry.
