Sources Chaudes de Mérens-les-Vals

Una subida de unos veinte minutos por encima del pueblo de Mérens-les-Vals, en el sendero de largo recorrido GR10 que atraviesa el Pirineo de Ariège, conduce a un conjunto de pozas naturales de roca donde se acumula agua sulfurosa a unos 30°C. A diferencia de los balnearios formales situados a siete kilómetros, en Ax-les-Thermes, este manantial nunca ha sido captado en cemento ni canalizado hacia una instalación comercial: el agua simplemente se acumula donde brota de la ladera, en tres oquedades comunicadas que el propio flujo ha ido esculpiendo con el tiempo. Mérens-les-Vals, más conocida por la robusta raza de caballo de montaña negro que lleva su nombre y por una moderna planta embotelladora de agua mineral inaugurada en 2020, sigue siendo una base tranquila para excursionistas que buscan un baño sin gestionar con vistas al alto valle del Ariège.

A short climb of around twenty minutes above the village of Mérens-les-Vals, on the GR10 long-distance trail through the Ariège Pyrenees, leads to a set of natural rock basins where sulphurous water gathers at roughly 30°C. Unlike the formal thermal establishments seven kilometres away in Ax-les-Thermes, this spring has never been captured in concrete or piped into a commercial facility — the water simply pools where it emerges from the mountainside, in three linked hollows carved by the flow over time. Mérens-les-Vals, better known for the sturdy black mountain horse breed that carries its name and for a modern mineral-water bottling plant opened in 2020, remains a quiet base for hikers seeking an unmanaged soak with views over the upper Ariège valley.

アリエージュ・ピレネーを縦断する長距離トレイルGR10沿い、メランレヴァル村から約20分ほど登った場所に、硫黄泉がおよそ30℃でたまる天然の岩の浴槽群がある。7キロメートル離れたアックス=レ=テルムにある正式な温泉施設とは異なり、この源泉はコンクリートで囲われたことも商業施設に配管されたこともなく、山腹から湧き出た水がそのまま、長い年月をかけて水流が削り出した3つの連なるくぼみにたまるだけである。メランレヴァルは同名の頑丈な黒い山岳馬の品種や、2020年に開業したミネラルウォーターの瓶詰め工場で知られるが、この村は依然として、アリエージュ川上流域の景色を望みながら手つかずの湯に浸かりたいハイカーたちの静かな拠点であり続けている。
