Castle Hot Springs is Arizona's oldest operating resort, built in 1896 by Frank Murphy in a canyon of the Bradshaw Mountains north of Scottsdale. Natural springs discharge at around 44°C and have attracted visitors from across the country for over a century, including Presidents, aviators, and Hollywood celebrities who came to the high desert for the springs' therapeutic waters and dry mountain climate. Destroyed by fire in 1976 and left abandoned for decades, the resort was meticulously restored and reopened in 2019 with contemporary luxury alongside its historic character.
