Inshriach House is a Victorian shooting lodge on the eastern edge of the Cairngorms National Park — Scotland's largest national park — set within a birch and Scots pine forest on the River Feshie. The estate's former horsehouse has been converted into a Finnish-style wood-fired sauna, and after each heating session, bathers descend to the river for a cold plunge in the clear peaty waters of the Feshie, which flows directly from the Cairngorm plateau. The combination of Victorian stone architecture, ancient Caledonian pine forest, and the cold clear water of a Highland river creates a specifically Scottish version of the Nordic sauna experience.

Inshriach Estate sits within the ancient Caledonian Forest, one of the last remnants of the original post-glacial forest of Scotland. The Scots pine woodland of the Feshie valley has been a managed landscape since at least the medieval era, and the River Feshie is protected as a Site of Special Scientific Interest.
The Horsehouse Sauna at Inshriach represents a growing trend in Scottish rural hospitality of pairing traditional estate buildings with Nordic wellness experiences — recognising that the Highland landscape offers everything required for the Finnish bathing cycle: forest, fire, cold water, and solitude. The estate also runs a microbrewery and is known for its eccentric, welcoming atmosphere.
Inshriach uses fallen and thinned timber from the estate's own Caledonian Pine woodland for the sauna heater, completing a natural cycle within the estate's forest management programme. Cold plunge water flows directly from the Feshie — no heating, pumping, or chemical treatment required.
