Otumuheke Stream (Spa Thermal Park)

El arroyo Otumuheke discurre por el Spa Thermal Park, a unos 3 km del centro de Taupō, calentado por la actividad geotérmica de la Zona Volcánica de Taupō, y fluye unos 1.500 m antes de unirse al río Waikato. Los bañistas pueden moverse entre el agua más caliente cerca del nacimiento y el agua más fría cerca de la confluencia con el río para encontrar una temperatura cómoda. Otumuheke Stream runs through Spa Thermal Park about 3 km from Taupō town centre, heated by geothermal activity within the Taupō Volcanic Zone and flowing roughly 1,500 m before joining the Waikato River. Bathers can move between hotter water near the source and cooler water near the river confluence to find a comfortable temperature. The park has long been a bathing and gathering site for Māori and was redeveloped in a partnership between local iwi and Taupō District Council, with storyboards on site explaining its geothermal and cultural significance.
