Pinkerton Hot Springs emerges from the earth south of Durango, Colorado, where geothermal water at around 44°C seeps into primitive soaking pools beside the Animas River. The site is named for early settlers in the area and has been used as a natural bath by residents and travelers for well over a century. Access involves a short walk from a roadside pullout, and the Animas River canyon scenery provides a striking backdrop for soaking.
