Radium Palace was built in 1910-12 to designs by Baron Gustav Flesch von Brünningen, on the strength of Jáchymov's radon-rich springs, first tapped for bathing in 1906 to create the world's first radon spa. The four therapeutic springs currently used (including the Curie spring) emerge between 29°C and 36°C from the same Ore Mountains pitchblende deposits that supplied the uranium ore from which Marie and Pierre Curie isolated radium in the 1890s. The five-storey neoclassical hotel, protected as a cultural monument since 1994, hosted an Egyptian king among its early guests and remains part of the state-run Léčebné lázně Jáchymov, prescribing radon baths for arthritic, rheumatic, and neurological conditions. Jáchymov's historic centre and mining landscape were inscribed as part of the UNESCO Erzgebirge/Krušnohoří Mining Region in 2019.

Heritage
Built in 1910-12, Radium Palace opened as the flagship hotel of the world's first radon spa (founded 1906) and is protected as a cultural monument since 1994. Jáchymov's ore deposits produced the uranium pitchblende from which Marie and Pierre Curie first isolated radium and polonium in the 1890s, and the town's historic centre and mining landscape form part of the UNESCO Erzgebirge/Krušnohoří Mining Region (inscribed 2019).
