Saliris Resort Spa Thermal in Egerszalók, in Heves County near Eger, draws 68°C calcium-magnesium-hydrogen-carbonate mineral water at its source. The water has flowed over the local hillside long enough to build up a large travertine formation known as 'Salt Hill,' created as dissolved minerals precipitate out on contact with air. Documented local use of the water dates back to the 1730s, a public bath operation began in 1961, and the present five-star Saliris Resort Spa Thermal Hotel, with 17 indoor and outdoor pools over roughly 1,900 m² of water surface, opened in 2010.
