The thermal well at Zsóry-fürdő was struck on 25 February 1939 at a depth of 875 meters during exploratory drilling, surfacing at 68°C. The first bathing pool, a 35×18 meter basin, opened in July 1940, and the site was designated a nationally significant thermal bath in 1983. Classified as calcium, magnesium, bicarbonate, and sodium-chloride water, it carries an average sulfide-ion content of 15.5 mg/l — the highest of any recorded Hungarian sulfur water. The complex is named after Lajos Zsóry, who authorized the original oil-exploration drilling that discovered it.

Patrimonio
Heritage
The spring was discovered by chance in 1939 during oil-exploration drilling authorized by Lajos Zsóry, after whom the site is named. It opened its first pool in 1940 and was designated a nationally significant thermal bath in 1983, reflecting its unusually high sulfide content among Hungarian sulfur waters.
