Sanatoria Klimkovice sits at Hýlov, just outside the town of Klimkovice near Ostrava, and treats patients with a highly concentrated sodium-chloride brine drawn from more than 500 metres below ground. The water is a tertiary relict of the Carpathian Foredeep's prehistoric seas, dating to roughly 6-11 million years ago, and is described as carrying around 900 times the iodine content of ordinary seawater. The spa specialises in musculoskeletal rehabilitation and neurorehabilitation, and its brine belongs to the same regional iodine-bromine aquifer system tapped by other North Moravian and Silesian spas such as Darkov and Hodonín.
