Spring No. 6

Spring No. 6 es un balneario termal en funcionamiento de la era soviética y centro de rehabilitación médica en el Parque Central de Tskaltubo, región de Imereti, Georgia. Los manantiales minerales de Tskaltubo —más de 2.000 fuentes naturales en la zona— se conocían ya en los siglos VII-IX, fueron analizados químicamente en el siglo XX, y la ciudad fue declarada oficialmente balneario médico en 1920, floreciendo después como un importante destino soviético que atraía a unos 125.000 visitantes anuales antes de decaer tras el colapso de la URSS. Spring No. 6, construido en 1950 exclusivamente para Iósif Stalin, es el mayor balneario termal que sigue en funcionamiento en Tskaltubo, con cinco piscinas de agua mineral, 37 cabinas de baño individuales y 17 cabinas de hidromasaje. El agua, naturalmente blanda y ligeramente radiactiva, de tipo radón-cloruro-magnesio, brota a una temperatura lista para el baño de 33-35°C, sin necesitar calentamiento ni enfriamiento artificial, y se usa en balneoterapia para afecciones circulatorias, nerviosas, musculoesqueléticas, ginecológicas y de la piel.

Spring No. 6 is a functioning Soviet-era thermal spa and medical rehabilitation centre in Tskaltubo's Central Park, in Georgia's Imereti region. Tskaltubo's mineral springs — over 2,000 natural sources in the area — were known as early as the 7th-9th centuries, chemically analyzed in the 20th century, and the town was officially declared a medical spa resort in 1920, later flourishing into a major Soviet destination drawing around 125,000 visitors annually before declining after the USSR's collapse. Spring No. 6 itself, built in 1950 exclusively for Joseph Stalin, is the largest thermal bathhouse still operating in Tskaltubo, with five mineral-water pools, 37 individual bathing cabins and 17 hydro-massage cabinets. The naturally soft, slightly radioactive radon-chloride-magnesium water emerges at a bathing-ready 33-35°C, requiring no artificial heating or cooling, and is used in balneotherapy for circulatory, nervous, musculoskeletal, gynaecological and skin conditions.
