Dobrna, in the valley of the Dobrnica stream in Styria, is one of the oldest documented spa towns in Slovenia, first mentioned in 1403 and developed as a health resort from 1582, with its first purpose-built bath house dating to 1624. The spring water reaches about 36°C, carries roughly 3.4% dissolved CO2, and is weakly radioactive — a combination that, alongside locally sourced peat and fango mud, gives Terme Dobrna three natural healing agents officially recognized by Slovenia's Ministry of Health. A new deep thermal source was located after the Second World War at 490–525 meters, nearly doubling the resort's water supply. Napoleon's brother Louis Bonaparte is recorded as a visitor in 1810–1811.
